Direct From Me: Why There's No Middleman

Every watch brand says “direct to consumer” now. Many brands sell through distributors and retailers, and each step adds to the price. I wanted to actually do it, not just say it.

Rifino doesn't go through a distributor. I started conversations with 12 manufacturers, narrowed that list over months, and had the finalists send real examples of their work before I picked one. Not a sales deck — actual watches, in my hands, so I could judge the fit, the finishing, the things photos hide. I picked my manufacturing partner the way I'd want a customer to pick me: on quality, on how they handled it when something didn't go to plan, not just on their lowest quote.

That means when you buy a Rifino, you're paying for the watch and the business running it — not six other companies that touched it before it got to you. It also means when something's wrong, you're emailing me, not a support queue three time zones removed from the people who actually made the decisions.

I'm not going to pretend that's a complete substitute for walking into a boutique and trying one on. But it's why a $279 Rifino uses the same movements as watches that cost two to three times as much elsewhere — there's no markup chain eating the difference.
